CWO A.G. Auger, CD

Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Chief Warrant Officer Alex Auger joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in 1990 as a Vehicle Technician in Montreal, Quebec.

 

In 1991, after completing his training, he was posted to Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Chilliwack, British Columbia. From 1996 to 1997 he was a member of Maintenance Troop at 1 Combat Engineer Regiment (1 CER). In 1997, he voluntary released from the CAF to pursue other endeavours. In 1999, he reenrolled in the CAF and was posted to 5 CER at CFB Valcartier, Quebec.

 

During the period from 2003 to 2010, CWO Auger was a Vehicle Technician with Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM) in Ottawa, Ontario. He occupied several positions including Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor and Support and Specialist Recruiter.

 

In 2010, he was posted back to 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (5 CMBG) in Valcartier Quebec, where he served with several mechanized units.

In 2016, he was promoted to Master Warrant Officer and remained in 5 CMBG occupying Senior Technical Instructor (STI) in 5 Service Battalion (5 Svc Bn) and Equipment Technical Quarter Master Sergeant (ETQMS) in 1st Battalion, Royal 22e Regiment (1 R22eR). In 2019, he was posted back to 5 Svc Bn as maintenance Company Sergeant Major (CSM). This post culminated in his promotion to CWO and posting to Technical Services Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) within 2 Canadian Division Support Group (2 CDSG) in 2021. He is currently the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Sergeant Major (RCEME Corps SM) and Director General Land Equipment Management Program Sergeant Major (DGLEPM SM).

Chief Warrant Officer Auger has deployed on the following overseas operations: Golan Heights in 1994 as a member of UNDOF, Afghanistan in 2004 as a member of ISAF, Ivory Coast in 2004 in support of the Canadian embassy, Jerusalem in 2019 in support of Operation PROTEUS and in Latvia in 2021, Operation REASSURANCE, as National Support Element Sergeant Major (NSE). He has participated in the domestic operations ASSISTANCE in Winnipeg Flood in 1997 and LASER in 2020 in support of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chief Warrant Officer Auger is married to Judith Turcotte and they are the proud parents of Gabrielle (14 years old) and Julien (11 years old).
