July 2019

  • 08 July: Maj George Garrard – After 34 + years of loyal service as an officer in the Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Maj Garrard will retire from the Canadian Armed Forces on 08 July 2019. A DWD will be held at CFB Borden Circle Pine Golf and Country Club, 31 Louisbourg Rd, Borden, ON. L0M 1C0, 13 June 2019, 1130 hrs. Please RSVP by 30 May, If you have not paid and would like to enjoy the luncheon portion of the DWD, please e-transfer (auto-deposit) $18.00 to Garrard.DWD@yahoo.com. June 2019

  • 24 June: WO Hussey – Warrant Officer Timothy Hussey will be retiring after 43 years of service to Canada, the Reserves and the Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME) on 24 June 2019. A retirement function in his honour will be held at Raxx Bar and Grill, 665 Development Drive, Kingston Ontario on 21 June 2019. Raxx has a full menu, we will be dining with Tim, starting at about 1300. Speeches and story-telling will happen at about 1400, along with some presentations in recognition of Tim’s long service and loyalty.   • 21 June: MGen Nicolas Eldaoud – After 36+ years of loyal service as an officer in the Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, MGen Eldaoud will retire from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2019. A retirement function will be held on 24 May 2019 at 11:30, at the WO & Sgt’s Mess in Ottawa.   • 13 June: Capt Oorlynck – Capt Sébastien Oorlynck will be retiring on 13 June 2019, after 14 years of dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) with the Corps of RCEME, in both the Regular Force and Reserve Force. Sébastien wishes to express his appreciation and best wishes to the exceptional people and mentors with whom he had the opportunity to work with during his career.  A DWD will be held at the CFB Borden Circled Pine Golf Club (31 Louisbourg Road, Borden, ON L0M 1C0) on Monday 21 May 2019 starting at 1200 hrs. Food and alcohol will be available for purchase, if you wish to attend.   • 06 June: CWO Thompson – After 30 years of loyal and dedicated service to the RCEME Corps and the CAF, Chief Warrant Officer Richard (Rick) J Thompson will retire on 26 June 2019. A DWD function in celebration of his career will be held in Winnipeg on Thursday, 6 June 2019. May 2019

  • 16 May: Colonel Nishika Jardine – After 36 + years of loyal service as an officer in the Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Col Jardine will retire from the Canadian Armed Forces on 16 May 2019. A retirement function in her honor will be held at Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston in the Senior Staff Mess on 03 May 2019 at 1400 hrs.   • 15 May: Colonel Devon Matsalla – After 26.5 years of loyal service in the Canadian Armed Forces, Col Matsalla will retire on 15 May 2019. To celebrate the occasion, he is throwing a huge party at the Heart & Crown (353 Preston St, Ottawa, ON) on 09 May from 18:30 to 22:00 where he will be hosting his two favorite bands: the Beerfönes and the Riverthieves. Please confirm your presence to Maj Morris at benjamin.morris@forces.gc.ca no later than 15 April.
  • 13 May: MCpl Bonneteau – After 10 years of service towards the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), the Canadian Reserves Forces, and the RCEME Corps, MCpl Bonneteau will retire on 13 May 19. A DWD luncheon will be held in his honor on Friday the 10th May 2019 at O2’s in Cold Lake, Alberta, please forward your stories and anecdotes to MWO Bill Barrett at William.Barrett@forces.gc.ca.
  • 13 May: Cpl Fontaine – After 9 years of loyal and dedicated service towards the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and to the RCEME Corps, Cpl Nicolas Fontaine will retire on 13 May 2019. A DWD will be held on the 10th of May 2019, 11:30 at Boston Pizza in Trenton.  After his release, Nicolas will settle in Gatineau, Québec with a new career in Cyber Security.  Please forward any congratulatory messages to Eric.Vaillancourt@forces.gc.ca.
  • 09 May: Sgt Ellis – Following 17 years and 11 months of loyal and dedicated service to Canada with the RCEME Corps and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Sergeant Wesley Ellis will retire on the 9th of May, 2019. A private DWD ceremony was held on April 18, 2019 in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC. Please send any messages or anecdotes that you wish to be read at the ceremony before April 12, 2019 to WO Scott Preeper, Scott.Preeper@forces.gc.ca.
  • 03 May: Sgt Daisy Phillips – Sgt Daisy Phillips will retire on 03 May 2019, after over 24 years of dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) with the RCEME Corps, in both the Regular Force and Reserve Force. Sgt Daisy Phillips wishes to express her appreciation and best wishes to the exceptional people and mentors with whom she had the opportunity to work with during her career.  A relaxed DWD will be held on the 26th April 2019 at the Sgt’s/WO’s mess in Borden at 1200 hrs. Pizza for a minimal cost will be provided, if you wish to attend please email JONATHAN.JALBERT@forces.gc.ca.   • 02 May: LCol James Matson – LCol James Matson will retire on 02 May 2019 following 36 years of service with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and the RCEME Corps. James, Carolyn, Laura and Ryan will remain in Ottawa.  His last day in uniform is 29 March and he will commence work with the Federal Public Service the following week. A DWD will not be conducted.  LCol Matson wishes to pass on his gratitude to the RCEME Corps and all of the people he has had the privilege to serve with over the last few years.
